GST officials raid Tamil actor Vishal's office in Chennai
A three-member GST intelligence team raided Tamil actor Vishal's production office today.
A Times of India report said the raid happened "following information that he had allegedly evaded service tax to the tune of several lakhs of rupees.
Vishal, who is the President of the Film Producers Council, had earlier asked a BJP leader, H Raja, how he could advocate piracy, after the latter told a private news channel that he had watched scenes from Mersal on the Internet.
Raja's admission invited condemnation from the film fraternity
Raja had earlier posted a series of tweets accusing actor 'Joseph VIjay' and the production house of the movie Mersal, saying they had included dialogues criticizing GST and calling the movie a 'Hate Modi' campaign.
